William Jenkins of Richmond Hill, witnessed by George Spencer and Randal Wixson;[364],[390] died 15 Mar 1868 at age 57.[180] Elizabeth and William's children were George, Jeremiah, Seneca, Ralph, William, Electa, Deborah, and Sophia.[391] It appears William and Elizabeth settled in Sanilac Co. around 1844.[392] She and William Stevens appeared on the census of 1850 at Worth, Sanilac Co., Michigan, United States of America; where William (57) was a farmer, and Elizabeth (42), George (19), Jeramiah (16), Senica (12), Ralph (10), William (8), Electa (5), and Deborah (2) were present.[393] William STEVENS. 13. Louisa6 WIXSON (child of Joseph5, Solomon4, Joshua3Wixam, Barnabas2, Robert1); born 13 Nov 1815;[180] married Jonathan B. Stevens 2 Feb 1832 at Whitby, Ontario Co., Upper Canada (Ontario), British North America (Canada); where witnesses were Jesse Wixson and John Stevens. Lawrence Heyden, J.P., presided;[364],[414] died 15 Mar 1894 at age 78.[180] She was also known as Lois.[415] It appears Jonathan and Louisa went to Sanilac Co. around 1840.[416] "their daughter Lois Jeanette married Peter Thibodeau."[417] She and Jonathan B. Stevens appeared on the census of 1850 at Worth, Sanilac Co., Michigan, United States of America; where Jonathan (37) was a farmer, and Louisa (35), Louisa (17), Jason (16), Lorenza (14), Emily (12), Deborah (9), Lucy (7), Mary (5), Luanna (1) were present.[418] Children of Louisa6 Wixson and Jonathan B. 14. Joseph6 WIXSON Jr. (child of Joseph5, Solomon4, Joshua3Wixam, Barnabas2, Robert1); born 21 Jun 1818 at Upper Canada (Ontario), British North America (Canada);[435],[436],[437] baptized 4 Nov 1849 at First Baptist Church of Pickering & Whitchurch, Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada); as an adult, in a ceremony including his cousin Azor and Hannah Norton, by his uncle Joshua;[225] he had a child with Bithenia Avery circa 1842;[438] he had a child with Elizabeth Yake circa 1843;[439] married Elizabeth Hebner 8 Jan 1846 at Pickering Twp., Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada); announced through banns, witnessed by Thomas Mathews and Julia Ann Stiver, presided by Rev. Marsh;[364],[440] married Abigale Sharrard, daughter of Sylvanus Sharrard and Ruth Wixson, between 1850 and 1853; (note that Abigail was Joseph's 1st cousin, once removed);[441] died of la grippe (a.k.a. influenza) and general debility 27 Feb 1908 at Marlborough St., Blenheim, Kent Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 89.[442],[443] In 1850 Joseph sold ¾-acres from his property on Con. 9 lot 18, to the First Baptist Church of Pickering and Whitchurch, on which their first permanent chapel was built. The parish name soon changed to Claremont Baptist Church, and iIn 1866 the present brick chapel was completed on the same site.[444] As of June 1851, Joseph was recorded as a member of the Claremont Baptist Church.[225] From about 1853 on, Joseph sold small parcels of land from his father's original grant on lot 18 Con. 9, which become the centre of the village of Claremont.[445],[446] There were several grave stones found in an old barn in Claremont believed to belong to the old Methodist Church graveyard, one of which was inscribed "In memory of / six infants / children of / Joseph & Abigal / Wixson / Of such is the kingdom of heaven."[447] During the years from 1858 to 1865, Joseph alternated from the positions of Deputy Reeve and Councillor of Pickering Township.[199] He appeared on the census of 1861 at Pickering Twp., Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada); where Joseph (44) was a Baptist farmer. Abigale (29), Franklin (15), John C. (8), and two other children Mary A. Farrell (5) and James Farrell (2) were present. They lived in a 1½-story stone house. Joseph occupied 100 acres on Con. 7 lot 20.[448],[449] He lived in 1871 at Harwich Twp., Kent Co., Ontario, Canada; where Joseph was aged 52 yrs.[450] He lived at Marlborough St., Blenheim, Kent Co., Ontario, Canada; the home built by son-in-law Herbert Wilson, where they died.[451] At least by the 1890's Joseph and Abigail had moved to Blenheim, Kent Co., which is south of Chatham in south-western Ontario.[452],[453] Children of Joseph6 Wixson Jr. and Bithenia Avery were:

Asa6 WIXSON (child of Joshua5, Solomon4, Joshua3Wixam, Barnabas2, Robert1); born 12 Feb 1801 at New York, United States of America;[229] died 12 Apr 1870 at Wakeshma, Kalamazoo Co., Colorado, United States of America, at age 69.[229] Asa joined the First Baptist Church of Pickering, newly formed by his father Joshua, 2 Sep 1821.[510] The name of Asa's wife is unknown, but she died in 1836, leaving 4 sons and 1 daughter Loretta.[511] He may also have lived in 1837 at Con. 7, lot 25, Pickering Twp., Ontario Co., Upper Canada (Ontario), British North America (Canada).[201] He lived in 1837 at Con. 7, lot 6, Brock Twp., Ontario Co., Upper Canada (Ontario), British North America (Canada).[201] He was banned from Canada for life for his participation in the Upper Canada Rebellion of 5 Dec 1837 on 17 Dec 1837 at York (Toronto), York Co., Upper Canada (Ontario), British North America (Canada).[242] In June 1851, Asa was recorded as "removed" from the Claremont Baptist Church, i.e. he had moved away from the community.[225] Children of Asa6 Wixson and an unknown spouse were:

Azor6 WIXSON (child of Joshua5, Solomon4, Joshua3Wixam, Barnabas2, Robert1); born 5 Feb 1805 at British North America (Canada);[518],[229] baptized 4 Nov 1849 at First Baptist Church of Pickering & Whitchurch, Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada); as an adult, in a ceremony including cousin Joseph Jr;[178] married Jane Sorter circa 1836;[519] died 1864 at St. Clair Co., Michigan, United States of America.[229] Azor bought his cousin Townsend's land on Con. 8, lot 18 in 1846.[520] He lived in 1850 at Con. 8, lot 16, Pickering Twp., Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada).[253] He and Jane Sorter appeared on the census of 1851 at Pickering Twp., Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada); where Azor (42) was a Canadian born farmer, Jane (32), Asa (14) labourer, George (12) and Rachel (born that year) were present. Their religion was Baptist. They lived in a one-story frame house.[521] In June 1851, Azor was recorded as still a member of the Claremont Baptist Church.[225] He lived in 1852 at Michigan, United States of America.[229] In 1855, Azor sells his property in Con. 8, lots 15 and 18.[365] "Azor died 'at the ditch' in front of the family home on Babcock Road..., of a massive heart attack."[522] Jane SORTER was born circa 1819 at British North America (Canada).[523] It is not known if Jane Sorter (b.c.1819) was sister to Rebecca Sorter (b.c.1809), though their husbands were 1st cousins and living in Pickering Twp. and likely member of the same church at the same time.[371] As of June 1851, Jane was recorded as "ex" in the Claremont Baptist Church minute book. It is not know whether this meant she had moved away from the community (Azor was still a member), or was she excommunicated (this does not appear in the minutes).[225]Children of Azor6 Wixson and Jane Sorter were as follows:

17. Ruth6 WIXSON (child of Joshua5, Solomon4, Joshua3Wixam, Barnabas2, Robert1); born 10 Jan 1807 at Pickering Twp., Ontario Co., Upper Canada (Ontario), British North America (Canada);[229] married Sylvanus Sharrard, son of James Wright Sharrard, circa 1828;[230] died 23 Feb 1900 at Claremont, Ontario Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 93.[229] It was said that Ruth was the first child born of white parents in the northern part of Pickering Township, although her brother Azor, or cousin Solomon may have claim to that title.[539] Ruth joined the First Baptist Church of Pickering, newly formed by her father Joshua, 2 Sep 1821.[210] Upon the death of her husband, Sylvanus, Ruth moved into Claremont. She was known as "Grandma Sharrard", and taught Sunday School at the Claremont Baptist Church well into her eighties.[540] Sylvanus SHARRARD[464] was born on 24 Nov 1805 at Upper Canada (Ontario), British North America (Canada).[229] He died on 20 Oct 1874 at Ontario, Canada, at age 68.[229]Children of Ruth6 Wixson and Sylvanus Sharrard were as follows:

18. Benjamin6 WIXSON (child of Joshua5, Solomon4, Joshua3Wixam, Barnabas2, Robert1); born 1 Mar 1820 at Pickering Twp., Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada);[229] baptized 23 Feb 1851 at Claremont Baptist Church, Claremont, Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada); as an adult, and wife his wife Mary;[178] married Mary Ellerthorpe 20 Nov 1840 at Pickering Twp., Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada); where the wedding was announced through banns, and both were of Pickering Twp. Witnesses were Richard Jones and Rachel Wixson. Rev. Marsh presided;[541],[542] died 1 Oct 1876 at Cedar Springs, Kent Co., Michigan, United States of America, at age 56.[229] Benjamin acquired land from his brother in 1844, Con. 7, lot 21's northern half.[543] He lived in 1850 at Con. 7, lot 20, Pickering Twp., Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada).[253] He and Mary Ellerthorpe appeared on the census of 1851 at Pickering Twp., Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada); where Benjamin was Canadian born, Baptist farmer (32). Wife Mary (30) born in England, Joseph (11), Sarah (9), William(7), Rachel (3), Joshua (b. 1851) were present. Also recorded was Benjamin's widowed mother Rachel (73), and Lemuel (22) a male labourer, and Jane Ellethorpe (18). The family lived in a 1½-story frame house, and the property included a 200-person stone Church of Scotland. Benjamin was occupying several farms: Con. 7, lots 19, 20 and 21, Con. 8 lot 16, and Con. 9 lot 17, totalling 521 acres.[544] In 1851, Benjamin and Mary moved to Michigan to join the majority of the Wixson family. Five more children were born (Mary J., John C., Thomas G., Anna Eliza, and Elizabeth), and of their 10 surviving children, several generations of descendants were recorded.[545] As of June 1851, Benjamin and Mary were recorded as "removed" from the Claremont Baptist Church, i.e. they had moved away from the community.[225] Banjamin sold his farm on Con. 7, lot 21.[543] Mary ELLERTHORPE was born on 14 Mar 1822 at Co. Yorkshire, England.[546],[547] She was baptized on 23 Feb 1851 at Claremont Baptist Church, Claremont, Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada); as an adult, and with her husband Benjamin.[225] She died on 28 Sep 1898 at Grand Rapids, Kent Co., Michigan, United States of America, at age 76.[548]Children of Benjamin6 Wixson and Mary Ellerthorpe were as follows:

19. Samuel7 WIXSON (child of Randal6, Joseph5, Solomon4, Joshua3Wixam, Barnabas2, Robert1);[568],[569] born circa 1827 at Upper Canada (Ontario), British North America (Canada);[570] married Esther Rawson, daughter of John Rawson and Esther Linton, circa 1852 at Brock Twp., Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada); though the exact date is unknown;[571],[572],[573] died between 1872 and 1879.[574],[575] He lived in 1850 at Con. 6, lot 9, Brock Twp., Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada).[576] He purchased the land from Cornelius Hummerfelt and Joseph Wixson (Sr.) on 24 Mar 1851 at W½ lot 9, Con. 6, Brock Twp., Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada).[577] The sale of land to Samuel by Joseph Wixson Sr. in 1851 supports the probably family relationship. The neighbouring property (E½ lot 9, Con. 6) was owned by Joseph Wixson Sr.'s son Randal Wixson from 1829 to 1847.[578],[579] He purchased the land from Sylvanus and Ruth Sharrard on 28 Oct 1854 at S½ lot 8, Con. 8, Brock Twp., Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada).[580] He sold the 8th Concession property to neighbour Henry Glendinning in Nov 1854 at S½ of lot 8, Con. 8, Brock Twp., Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada).[581] He and Esther Rawson sold the 6th Concession property to James Stabback on 9 Dec 1854 at W½ lot 9, Con. 6, Brock Twp., Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada).[582] He and Esther Rawson lived in 1861 at Brock Twp., Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada); in enumeration district 3, which included lands around Vroomanton village, and was near both Randal Wixson's previous land, and the farm Samuel bought from Joseph Wixson in 1850.[583] He and Esther Rawson appeared on the census of 1861 at Brock Twp., Ontario Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada); where Annis Wixson (RC, married and not widowed, 53) was recorded as a labourer (and it is assumed she is Samuel's mother), Samuel (Baptist, married,35), Esther (WM, married, 23), Clancy (prob. Clarissa) (7), Mary Ann (5), Daniel (i.e. John Daniel, 3) and Edward McDermot were present. It was recorded Esther gave birth in 1860, (prob. Ann Jane b. Feb 1861) but child was not present at census. The family lived in a one-story log home on 2 acres, and a cow valued at $20.[584] He and Esther Rawson appeared on the census of 1871 at Con. 7, lot 11, Brock Twp., Ontario Co., Ontario, Canada; where Samuel (Baptist, born in Ont., of Dutch origin, 43), Esther (36), Clarissa (17), Mary Ann (15), John Daniel (13), Ann Jane (10), Robert (8), Joseph (4), Isaac (1) and Jacob (1) were present. As tenants, they lived on a 2-acre plot, cultivated potatoes and turnips, produced 20 pounds of butter per year, and had a cow and a pig. This home was only a short distance from Randal Wixson's farm lost in 1847.[585] There are no records of Samuel after 1871. Esther remarried as a widow in 1879.[586] Esther RAWSON[587],[588] was born on 12 Mar 1837 at Upper Canada (Ontario), British North America (Canada).[589],[590] She married Thomas Wiggins on 26 Nov 1879 at Ontario, Canada; where Thomas was a labourer aged 44, and Esther Wixson of Brock, 43, widow, and daughter of John and Esther Rawson.[591] She died after a six-week illness on 12 Dec 1905 at 117 Maria St., Toronto Junction, York Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 68.[592] She and Thomas Wiggins appeared on the census of 1881 at Brock Twp., Ontario Co., Ontario, Canada; where Esther was 44, Thomas Wiggins labourer (56), Anna Jane Wixson a servant (19), Robert Wixson a labourer (17), Issac and Jacob Wixson (both 11) were present. They may have been living in Sunderland village.[593] She appeared on the census of 1891 at Cannington, Ontario Co., Ontario, Canada; where Esther was a widow (54), and Isaac (22) a factory-hand and wood-worker, and Jacob (22) a farm labourer, were present.[594] In 1894, Esther Rawson lived at 33 May, Toronto Junction, York Co., Ontario, Canada, with son Jacob.[595] Between 1896 and 1900, Esther Rawson lived at 20 Annette St. W., Toronto Junction, York Co., Ontario, Canada, with son Jacob, and as of 1899, Jacob's wife Maud.[596] She appeared on the census of 1901 at Cannington, Ontario Co., Ontario, Canada; where Esther (64), son Joseph (32) a wool spinner, and Clara (26), Roy (10), Edith (6), Mary C. (3), Frederick (10 mos) were present.[597] C. 1901-1904, Esther Rawson lived at 53 Hoskin Ave., Toronto Junction, York Co., Ontario, Canada, with son Isaac and his wife Elizabeth.[598]Children of Samuel7 Wixson and Esther Rawson were as follows:
