1. Edward¹ STALLARD; born circa 1677;[1] married Mary Page, daughter of Richard Page and Mary Salter, 7 Oct 1697 at Catherington, Co. Hampshire, England; where Edward was of Widley;[2],[3] died aged 78-79 1756 at Catherington, Co. Hampshire, England;[4] buried 1756 at All Saints Churchyard, Catherington, Co. Hampshire, England.[5]

He lived in 1697 at Widley, Co. Hampshire, England.[6] He collarmaker, gave evidence in an ecclesiastical court in libel case in Jan 1705 at Catherington, Co. Hampshire, England.[7] In the Catherington church records, there are four more children born after 1716, in addition to the four born 1698-1710 attributed to Edward Stallard and Mary. Francis b.1718, Anne b.1720, Mary b.1724, Susannah b.1726. There were also two burials recorded for Mary, wife of Edward Stallard: in Jun 1716 and Jan 1726/27.[8],[9] He lived on 30 Apr 1717 at Horndean, Catherington, Co. Hampshire, England; a copyhold messuage and appurtenances, leased from John Collins.[10] He was a collar maker, and master to apprentice Joseph Shaft in 1722 at Catherington, Co. Hampshire, England.[11]

Mary PAGE[12],[12] was baptized on 11 Jan 1668 at Catherington, Co. Hampshire, England.[13]

He was a Spirit Dealer in 1828 at Havant, Co. Hampshire, England.[35] He left a will on 11 Feb 1828 at Havant, Co. Hampshire, England; where William (71) was a fellmonger, Elizabeth (70, b. Froyle) and Amelia (32) were present.[85]

Hampshire, England;[105],[106],[74] married Charlotte Todman, daughter of John Todman and Elizabeth (--?--), 28 Nov 1812 at Holy Trinity, Gosport, Co. Hampshire, England;[107],[108] died "77 years" 7 May 1869 at Havant, Co. Hampshire, England, at age 77;[109],[110],[111],[112] buried at Havant Cemetery, Havant, Co. Between 1813 and 1815, Edward Stallard and Charlotte Todman lived at Sheet, Co. Hampshire, England, where Edward was a fellmonger and collar maker.[115] In 1817, Edward Stallard and Charlotte Todman lived at Hambledon, Co. Hampshire, England.[116] Between 1820 and 1846, Edward Stallard and Charlotte Todman lived at Buriton, Co. Hampshire, England.[117] He was among other occupations, a collar maker between 1824 and 1843 at Buriton, Co. Hampshire, England.[118] Probably around 1831, Edward became publican or host of the "Five Bells" pub in Buriton. His mother Olive was its advertised hostess in 1830.[119],[118],[120] He was a publican, collar maker and saddler between 1831 and 1840 at Buriton, Co. Hampshire, England.[118],[121] He and Charlotte Todman appeared on the census of 1841 at Buriton, Co. Hampshire, England; where Edward (~45) was a parchment maker, and Charlotte (~45), Ellen (15), George (12), Albert (9), Clarissa (7), Sarah (5) were present. Their servant was Sophia Brooks (25), also her son David (10 mo.) was present.[122],[123] In 1841, Edward paid tithes for his residence, a house and garden on North Lane, and a paddock across from the Five Bells pub (his son Edward junior paid tithes for the parchment yard).[124] He and Charlotte Todman lived in 1841 at North Lane, Buriton, Co. Hampshire, England; where Edward was recorded to be a parchment maker.[125] He was probably a collar maker, parchment maker and fellmonger (preparer of pelts for leather making) between 1841 and 1846 at Buriton, Co. Hampshire, England.[126],[127] By 1847, Edward and family had moved south to the coastal town of Havant, where he, joined by sons George and Albert, took over operations at the Homewell Parchment Yard.[128] He was a parchment maker and fellmonger between 1847 and 1867 at Homewell Parchment Yard, Havant, Co. Hampshire, England.[129] He and Charlotte Todman appeared on the census of 1851 at East Street, Havant, Co. Hampshire, England; where Edward (58) born Buriton, employed 8 men and 4 boys as a master fellmonger. Charlotte (56) born Petersfield, and George (22) a journeyman fellmonger, Albert (20) also a journeyman fellmonger, Clarissa (17) and Sarah (14) were present, and Alfred Stent (Edward's grandson, 6) was visiting.[130],[131] He was a fellmonger (preparer of pelts for leather making) circa 1853.[132] He and Charlotte Todman appeared on the census of 1861 at West Street, Havant, Co. Hampshire, England; where Edward (68) was a fellmonger employing 3 men and 1 boy, b. Buriton Hants, Charlotte (67) b. Haslemere Surrey, Mary A Stent (39), widowed daughter, her son Alfred Stent (16), and two more grandchildren, Ellen Judd (19), and Elizabeth Judd (16) were present.[133] He left a will on 18 Sep 1862 at Havant, Co. Hampshire, England; Where he declared his parchment business will go to sons George and Albert, all real estate to wife Charlotte, and the residue to be divided among his seven living children, excepting Edward, and his Judd grandchildren. "I have excluded my son Edward from all benefit... because I have made adequate advances to him in my lifetime." His first codicil of 1 Apr 1864 included grandson Alfred Stent, and in the second codicil of 9 Apr 1869, he adjusted will as George and Albert had already received the parchment business, and "I also revoke the unfavourable declaration... towards my son Edward... I give him... £100."[134] He and Charlotte Todman were living in 1867 at Havant, Co. Hampshire, England; with son Albert.[135]

Charlotte TODMAN[136],[137] was christened on 30 Nov 1794 at Haslemere, Co. Surrey, England; where her father was John Todman, and mother Elizabeth.[138],[139] She died "relict of the late Edward Stallard, in her 83rd year" on 18 Jun 1876 at Havant, Co. Hampshire, England, at age 81.[109],[140],[141],[142] She was buried at Havant Cemetery, Havant, Co. Hampshire, England, "in 85th year."[112] She was not born in at Petersfield, Co. Hampshire, England.[143],[144],[145]

Frances was not with her parents for the 1841 census, where she would have been around 25 years old.[148]

7. James⁴ STALLARD (child of William³, William², Edward¹); christened 7 Apr 1795 at Buriton, Co. Hampshire, England;[74] married Maria Wells 30 Oct 1833 at Faringdon, Co. Hampshire, England;[154] he probably died 1867 at Havant, Co. Hampshire, England.[155]

He and Maria Wells appeared on the census of 1841 at Back Lane, Steyning, Co. Sussex, England; where James (~40) was a parchment maker, and Maria (33), Edward (15), Ellen (14), George (6), Albert (4) were present.[156] He and Maria Wells appeared on the census of 1851 at Castle Street, Titchfield, Co. Hampshire, England; where James (55) was a parchment maker, and Maria (48), George (16) a carpenter, and Albert (14) were present.[157] He and Maria Wells appeared on the census of 1861 at Havant, Co. Hampshire, England; where James (66) was a parchment maker, and Maria (59) and Albert (24) also a parchment maker, were present.[158]

Maria WELLS was born circa 1802 at Faringdon, Co. Hampshire, England.[159] She and George Stallard appeared on the census of 1871 at West Street, Havant, Co. Hampshire, England; where Maria (68) was a widow, residing with son Goerge (36), widower and builder employing 14 men and 1 boy, Alice (14), Jessie (12), Alfred Edwin (10), Louisa Luelyn (7), Florence Margaret (5).[160]

8. Charlotte⁵ STALLARD (child of Edward⁴, William³, William², Edward¹); christened 28 May 1813 at St. Peter's, Petersfield, Co. Hampshire, England;[170],[90] married Reverend Philip Chapman 28 Sep 1836 at Buriton, Co. Hampshire, England; where Phillip was from Shoreditch, and Charlotte from Buriton;[171],[56] married (--?--) Daughtery after 1840;[151] died 11 Jun 1906 at Jamaica, British West Indies, at age 93.[172]

She and Reverend Philip Chapman emigrated in 1836 to Jamaica, British West Indies.[173],[174] She and Reverend Philip Chapman where Philip served as a Wesleyan Methodist missionary between 1836 and 1838 at Kingston, Jamaica, British West Indies.[175] She and Reverend Philip Chapman where Philip served as a Wesleyan Methodist missionary in 1839 at Lucea, Cornwall Co., Jamaica, British West Indies.[175]

Reverend Philip CHAPMAN was born in 1813 at Petersfield, Co. Hampshire, England.[176] He died having fallen from the church roof while fixing it on 17 May 1843 at Mt. Ward Methodist Church, Haughton Grove, Hanover Parish, Cornwall Co., Jamaica, British West Indies.[177],[178]

Children of Charlotte⁵ Stallard and Reverend Philip Chapman were as follows:

Phillip became Postmaster General of Jamaica.[180] He was both Stamp Commissioner and the Administrator-General of Jamaica from 1893-1899.[181]

17. iii. Charlotte Ellen Chapman, born 29 Oct 1839 at Manchester Parish, Middlesex Co., Jamaica, British West Indies; married Archdeacon (--?--) Panton.

iv. Elizabeth Duggan Chapman;[182],[179] born 15 Jul 1843 at Kingston, Surrey Co., Jamaica, British West Indies;[172] married Archbishop Enos Nuttall of Jamaica 1867;[151],[183] died 1935.[184]

She was also known as Lilly DAUGHTERY.[185] She was also known as just Elizabeth DUGGAN put Duggan is probably her middle name.[186],[187] In 1866 Enos Nuttall became incumbent of St. George's church, Kingston, Jamaica. Elizabeth and Enos had two sons and three daughters.[188] In 1893, Most Rev. Enos Nuttall D.D., became Primate, and then in 1895, the first Archbishop of the West Indies.[180]

There were no children of Charlotte⁵ Stallard and (--?--) Daughtery.

"Edward jun., a Buriton boy" was apprenticed to Henry Hall (prob. carpenter) for £20 on 28 Aug 1829.[200],[201] In 1837, Edward George James Stallard and Ann Chalcraft lived at Gosport, Co. Hampshire, England, at their marriage.[202] He was a publican, probably with his father at the "Five Bells" between 1838 and 1840 at Buriton, Co. Hampshire, England.[203] In 1841, Edward paid tithes for his residence, a house and garden on Bone's Lane; an arable field, part of Lime Kiln Field; and the parchment yard and the house and garden immediately south of it on North Lane.[204] He and Ann Chalcraft appeared on the census of 1841 at Buriton, Co. Hampshire, England; where Edward (~25) a harness maker, wife Ann (~25) and daughter Emma (4 mo.) were present. Also his sister Caroline Judd (~25), and her family John Judd (~25) a baker, Charles (3) and Charlotte (1) were present.[122],[205] He and Ann Chalcraft lived in 1841 at Bone's Lane, Buriton, Co. Hampshire, England; with sister's family (Caroline & John Judd). Edward was called a harness maker, and John a baker. Their 17th century timber-frame house contained two cottages.[206],[207],[208] He was a collar maker, and a fellmonger (preparer of pelts for leather making) between 1841 and 1843 at Buriton, Co. Hampshire, England.[203] He was a harness maker in 1844 at Buriton, Co. Hampshire, England.[209],[210] He and Ann Chalcraft appeared on the census of 1851 at Cow Legs Lane, Petersfield, Co. Hampshire, England; where Edward (35) was a wool dealer, born in Sheet. Ann (36) of Emsworth, Kate (8), Fanny (6), Clara (4) and Ellen (2) were also present.[211],[212] He and Ann Chalcraft appeared on the census of 1861 at 8 Sheet St., Petersfield, Co. Hampshire, England; where Edward (45) a wool stapler born in Sheet, Ann (49) of Emsworth, Kate (18) , George (9) and servant Chester Pink were present.[213] He and Ann Chalcraft emigrated in 1867 to Ontario, Canada; where Edward (53) was a farmer, and Ann (56), Fanny (22) and George (13) were recorded as cabin passengers aboard S.S. Peruvian, which departed Liverpool 1 Aug 1867, arrived Quebec City 14 Aug 1867, from whence their family settled in Islington.[214] He and Ann Chalcraft lived between 1868 and 1871 at lot 8, Con. A, Etobicoke Twp., Islington, York Co., Ontario, Canada; renting 13 acres from Captain Edward Jones of Yorkville. Edward G.J. was a butcher and drover.[215] On 23 Jul 1869, Edward purchased for five dollars a burial plot at St. George's church for son George.[216] He and Ann Chalcraft appeared on the census of 1871 at Orillia, Simcoe Co., Ontario, Canada; where Edward (55) was a butcher, and Anne was present.[217] At some point Edward and Anne returned to England and lived in Winchcombe near their daughter Frances.[218] He and Ann Chalcraft appeared on the census of 1881 at Gretton Rd., Winchcombe, Co. Gloucester, England; where Edward (67) farmed 45 acres, employing one boy. Ann (68) was also present.[219] He and Ann Chalcraft appeared on the census of 1891 at Winchcombe, Co. Gloucester, England; where Edward G.J. (78) was a farmer, and Ann (81) and two servants were present.[220]

Ann CHALCRAFT[221],[222] was baptized on 4 Nov 1810 at Warblington Parish, Co. Hampshire, England.[223],[224],[225],[226] She died in Nov 1910 at Winchcombe, Co. Gloucester, England.[197],[227] She was buried on 5 Nov 1910 at Winchcombe, Co. Gloucester, England, "aged 100."[228] She appeared on the census of 1901 at 95 Gretton Rd., Winchcombe, Co. Gloucester, England; where Anne (90) was a widowed farmer's wife, in the home of her daughter Frances Stephens (55), and James Stephens (66) the superintendant registrar, clerk to union, and their children Henry W. (29) a solicitor, John H (24) an articled clerk (solicitor), and a servant Hannah Martin (21) were present.[229] On 30 Nov 1910, Winnifred Brereton sent a thank-you card to Mr. A. Bone (husband of Kate) concerning Ann's death, it is assumed: "Please accept sincere thanks for very kind sympathy." The post-mark indicates Ms. Brereton also lived in Toronto.[230]
