Edward James Morton 

Standard Bank c.1903 to 1911 It may be no coincidence that Mortons were associated with the Standard Bank in Bradford. Dr. George D. Morton owned the premises for a time, and willed it to Dr. Edward's son Francis G. Morton in 1895. In 1896, cousin John Elliott succeeded Mr. Dewson as the bank manager (13)

Sometime between 1901 and 1905, earlier story Ned began working there, moving from Holland Landing to an apartment in the building. 

Historical summary: 1900's 

Over the course of the next few years, Ned was transferred from Bradford to Picton, then to Belleville, no doubt rejoining John Elliott, who also moved on to Belleville in 1906. Ned finally was put into the head office in Toronto by around 1911. It was here that Ned met Alice Holtorf earlier story
 

 
Alice was working in the Parliament Buildings as a secretary for the Deputy Minister for the Women's Institute, having taken a business course in Toronto.

Ned and Alice married on January 16, 1912. 

Upon their marriage, Ned quit the bank and opened a grocery store on Pacific Avenue in Toronto's High Park area. Their first three children were born while the family was living in an apartment over the store: Bill, Mary and Betty. After a few years Ned sold the store for a good profit, returned to the bank, and soon purchased a house on Raymond Avenue near Jane Street.

Family moves to Raymond Ave. 
1917
The family moved to 75 Raymond Avenue in 1917 once Ned had rejoined the bank, now absorbed by the Royal Bank of Canada. Here Jean was born, completing the family of four children.
