            He was living in 1749 at Dennis, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts Bay, British America; and held public office both as a representative and a selectman.[1270] Joshua signed a petition to the General Court with 20 others of Harwich, asking for relief from paying taxes to support Edward Pell, the local Congregational church minister, as they had become New Lights, i.e. ascribed to revivalist beliefs, likely, eventually as Baptist.[1271],[1272] He lived in 1754 at Massachusetts, British America.[1273] Around 1755, Joshua and Elizabeth moved their family to Dutchess Co., New York.[1265]

              Barnabas and his descendants adopted the WIXOM form of the name. They emigrated to the western part of New York State before 1790.                 In 1721, Matthias bought 150 acres in Bristol Twp. from his father, Jan (John) Lucken. Thenceforth, he referred to himself as Matthias of Bristol.[1286] He lived in 1739 at Germantown, Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania Colony, British America; as he attended and paid dues at his Quaker meeting.[1287] He left a will in Nov 1741; proved 19 Feb 1741/42, which stated, in part "He describes himself as of Bristol township, yeoman. He leaves to his wife Anne the income of the plantation, 136 acres, in Warminster, Bucks county, bought of Job Goodson. To his eldest son, John, he leaves, when he shall be 23 years old all that, my plantation or Tract of land, with the two mills and their convenience thereon, [etc.], the which I purchased of John Peters, and was formerly the Estate of Rich'd Townsend," dec'd." To son Dirk, when 22 years old, place where I now dwell, 150 acres, purchased of my father John (Jan) Lucken. To son Daniel, when 21 years old, land and tenements in Horsham township, purchased of Joseph Hall. To daughter Mary, when 20 years old or married (whichever first), two lots in Germantown, one purchased of Thomas Rose, the other of George Bringhurst."[1132] The executors of Mathias Lukens Estate were Thomas Nedrow, John Johnson, and Joseph Lukens.[1288]
