Newlove, and Mrs. E.D. McLaren wife of the minister;[67] died 1 Feb 1955 at Albion Twp., Peel Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 88.[68]

        Margaret and John had at least three children: Hannah Jane Smith (b. 7 Jan 1884), Elizabeth Dalsyrthaura Smith (b. 7 Mar 1887), and William John Smith (b. 14 Aug 1893), all born in Albion Twp., Peel Co (Elizabeth at Lot 20, Con. 5, Albion).[69] She and John Henry Smith appeared on the census of 1901 at Albion Twp., Peel Co., Ontario, Canada; where John H Smith (43, b. 7 Jun 1857) was a farmer, Margaret A Smith (31, b. 8 Dec 1869), Elizabeth D Smith (14, b. 7 Mar 1887), John W H Smith (7, b. 14 Aug 1893), next to Margaret's parents John and Mary Newlove.[70]

        She and Hannah Newlove may be the same person.[73]

        She and Elizabeth Newlove may be the same person.[73] She and John A Newlove appeared on the census of 1891 at Albion Twp., Peel Co., Ontario, Canada; where John A (21) was a farmer, and Hannah (22), his sister, was present. Both were unmarried.[78] Hannah may have gone to the USA in 1896, married Fred Batt in 1897, raised children in Ney York State, and returned to Canada, and lived in Hamilton, ON. She and Fred had three sons, Elmer Batt (b. 1899), Walter Batt (b. 1901), and Wesley Batt (b. 1906).[79],[80]

      • iv. John A Newlove;[81],[81] born 7 Aug 1870 at Albion Twp., Peel Co., Ontario, Canada;[82],[83] died of spinal disease, aged 27 27 Aug 1896 at Albion Twp., Peel Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 26.[84]

        He and Hannah Newlove appeared on the census of 1891 at Albion Twp., Peel Co., Ontario, Canada; where John A (21) was a farmer, and Hannah (22), his sister, was present. Both were unmarried.[78]

      • v. Mary Agnes Newlove;[85],[85] born Aug 1872 at Ontario, Canada;[86],[87] married Albert E G Searle 29 May 1901 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; where Albert (31) was a farmer, and both he and Mary (28) were of Peel Co;[88] died 17 Jan 1950 at Ontario, Canada, at age 77.[89]

        She and Albert E G Searle appeared on the census of 1911 at lot 34, con 11, Vaughan Twp., York Co., Ontario, Canada; where Albert (42) was a farmer, and Mary (35), John (9), Mabel (7), Myrtle (5), Elwin (4), Della (2 mos.) were present.[90]

Martha Jane Newlove;[91],[91] born 3 Mar 1875 at Albion Twp., Peel Co., Ontario, Canada;[92],[93] married Herbert Merril 26 Nov 1902 at Ingersoll, Oxford Co., Ontario, Canada; where Herbert was a 35 yr old labourer of Ingersoll, son of Edward and Sarah Ann;[94] died 22 Jan 1936 at Ingersoll, Oxford Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 60;[95] buried 24 Jan 1936 at Ingersoll Rural Cemetery, Ingersoll, Oxford Co., Ontario, Canada.[96]

        She was also known as Jane NEWLOVE.[97] She and Herbert Merril appeared on the census of 1911 at Metcalf St., Ingersoll, Oxford Co., Ontario, Canada; where Herbert (44) was a section man on the G.Y.R., and Martha (34), Aileen (6), Alice (5), and John (2) were present.[98] It was published, "MRS. MARTHA J. MERRILL The death occurred last Wednesday evening at Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll, of a well known and respected citizen of Ingersoll, in the person of Mrs. Martha Jane Merrill, widow of the late Herbert Merrill, in her 61st year. The late Mrs. Merrill had been in failing health for the past 6 months and during the past 5 weeks, her condition became serious. The deceased was born in Bolton, Peel County, and came to Ingersoll about 35 years ago. Of a quiet and unassuming manner, she readily made friends of all with whom she came in contact, and her passing is deeply regretted. She was a member of the St. James Anglican Church. Left to mourn her loss is one daughter, Mrs. E. J. Speagle, Detroit; and one son, John, at home. She is also survived by three sisters, and one brother, as follows; Mrs. Albert Searle, Bolton; Mrs. John H. Smith, Hamilton; Mrs. Elmer Batt of Buffalo and William Newlove of Bolton. The funeral was held from the Fred S. Newman Funeral Home, 125 Duke St., on Saturday afternoon with service at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. C. K. Masters. The many beautiful floral tributes bore silent testimony of the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Interment was made in the Ingersoll Rural Cemetery."[99]

(16), Elizabeth (14), John (10), Mary (8), Jane (5), and William (3) were present, all born Ontario and Primitive Methodists.[59] In 1887, Mary Jane Allan and John Henry Newlove lived at Lot 15, Con. 5, Albion Twp., Peel Co., Ontario, Canada.[60] She and John Henry Newlove appeared on the census of 1891 at Albion Twp., Peel Co., Ontario, Canada; where John Newlove (50) was a farmer, with Mary J Newlove (47), Mary Newlove (18), Jane Newlove (16), and William Newlove (14) present.[61] She and John Henry Newlove appeared on the census of 1901 at Albion Twp., Peel Co., Ontario, Canada; where John (61, b. 20 Mar 1840, Ontario) a farmer of English decent, Mary J (58, b. 24 Dec 1842, Ontario) of Scotish decent, Mary (28, b. Canada, and Maggie Essels (6), William Essels (5), Rose Essels (3), Earle Essels (1 mo), and Pearle Essels (1 mo) b. Pennsylvania.[127] He may have lived in 1881 at 220 Wylie Ave., Pittsburg, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania, United States of America; as a labourer.[128],[129] Sometime after 1882, his wife Mary died, and Frederick remarried to Sarah Jane Billingsley in 1890.[130] He and Mary Wheeler had their American children baptised: Margaret (8), Rosalie (5), Earl (2), Pearl (2), and Frederick (1) on 22 Nov 1882 at New Carlisle, Bonaventure Co., Québec, Canada.[131] He and Sarah Jane Billingsley appeared on the census of 1891 at New Carlisle, Bonaventure Co., Québec, Canada; where Frederick Assels (45) was a mariner, with Sarah J Assels (31), Weltha Assels (19), and Maggie Assels (17) both domestic servants, and Rosalia Assels (14), Earl Assels (12), Pearl Assels (12), and Fred Assels (10) also present.[132] He and Sarah Jane Billingsley appeared on the census of 1901 at New Carlisle, Bonaventure Co., Québec, Canada; where Frederick (54) was a farmer, Sarah Jane (42) his wife, Frederick (18), Bella (9), Garfield (5), Wilson (3), and Angus Guy (1) were present, all born in Quebec and Church of England.[133] He and Sarah Jane Billingsley appeared on the census of 1911 at New Carlisle, Bonaventure Co., Québec, Canada; where Frederick (64) was a farmer, and Sarah Jane (50), Bella (20) a public school teacher, Garfield (16), Wilson (14), Angus (10), and Francis (6) were present.[134]

          Margaret's last appearance in public records was with her father in the census of 1891 in New Carlisle.[137]

William James Assels;[135],[135] born circa 1875 at Pennsylvania, United States of America;[141] died "aged 8 years", on the day of his sibling's baptisms 22 Nov 1882 at New Carlisle, Bonaventure Co., Québec, Canada;[142],[143] buried 24 Nov 1882 at New Carlisle, Bonaventure Co., Québec, Canada.[143]

            He emigrated in 1836 to Upper Canada (Ontario), British North America (Canada); where "Land patents issued."[218] He and Hannah Jones appeared on the census of 1861 at Lot 15, Con. 6, Albion Twp., Peel Co., Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada); where John Allan (56) a yeoman born in Scotland, Hannah Allan (31), Margaret Allan (20), Jane Allan (18), Adam Allan (14), Ann Allan (12), Hannah Allan (9), John Allan (7), Elizabeth Allan (6), James Allan (3), and Robert Allan (1, b. 1860) were present, all born Upper Canada. John's parents were there also: John Allan (82) a fraymer, and Mary Allan (84) both born Scotland, with labourer James Jones (19), and another John Allan (23), a fraymer, both born in Upper Canada. The family lived in a log house on 100 acres, producing wheat, barley, peas, oats, potatoes, turnips, and hay.[219] He and Hannah Jones appeared on the census of 1871 at Albion Twp., Peel Co., Ontario, Canada; where John Allen (68) was a farmer, with Hannah Allen (41), Hannah Allen (18), John C Allen (17), Elizabeth Allen (15), James J Allen (14), Robert Allen (12), Mary C Allen (8), Agnes Allen (6), and Martha E Allen (1) present.[220] He and Hannah Jones appeared on the census of 1881 at Albion Twp., Peel Co., Ontario, Canada; where John Allan (76) was a farmer, with Hannah Allan (52), Elizabeth Allan (23), James Allan (22), Robert Allan (19), Mary Allan (17), Agnes Allan (14), Martha Allan (12), and John Allan (8) present.[221]

              Margaret and Robert's story is unclear. They may have had a daughter named Sarah Jane Roxanna Lackey (b.c. 1874), who married John Muir in 1895. No further record of Margaret or Robert has been found, and some assume they died before the census of 1881.[225]

            • 21. ii. Mary Jane Allan.

            • iii. Adam Allan;[226],[226] born 14 Dec 1846;[227] married Margaret Carberry 3 Sep 1877 at Brampton, Peel Co., Ontario, Canada; where Adam (25) was a batchelor farmer, and Margaret (24) was a spinster, and both resided in Albion; J.M. Starr presided, and witnesses were Thomas Carberry and Margaret McRea, the bride's parents;[228] died a widower in his 71st year 24 Jan 1914 at Ayr, Waterloo Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 67.[229]

              He should not be confused with David ALLAN.[230] He and Margaret Carberry appeared on the census of 1881 at Albion Twp., Peel Co., Ontario, Canada; where Adam Allen (35) was an Ontario-born farm labourer, with Margret Allen (33), Margret Jane Allen (3), and Thos. George Allen (1) present.[231] He and Margaret Carberry appeared on the census of 1891 at Ayr, Waterloo Co., Ontario, Canada; where Adam Allan (45), Margaret Allan (40), Margaret Jane Allan (13), George Thomas Allan (11), James Adam Allan (6), and Jno Edward Allan (5) were present. Adam's occupation was "Nairry" or "Naviry."[232],[233] He and Margaret Carberry appeared on the census of 1901 at Ayr, Waterloo Co., Ontario, Canada; where Adam Allan (57, b. 14 Dec 1843) was a labourer, with Margaret Allan (47, b. 1 Aug 1853), John E Allan (16, b. 14 Dec 1884), and James A. W. Allan (18, b. 21 Mar 1883) were present.[234] He appeared on the census of 1911 at Ayr, Waterloo Co., Ontario, Canada; where Adam Allan (67, b. Nov 1843) was a widowed labourer working at a gravel pit, with daughter Margaret (31, b. Feb 1880) a dress maker.[235]

Ann Allan;[236],[236] born 1 May 1848;[237] married Thomas Squires 9 Feb 1869 at Albion Twp., Peel Co., Ontario, Canada; where Thomas (25) was a batchelor farmer, son of William and Mary, and Ann (21) was a spinster, both residing in Albion. Joseph Wheeler presided, and witnesses were Adam Allen (brother), and Eliza Jane Switzer;[238] died aged "78 yrs, 6 mos., 9 dys" 9 Nov 1923 at 25 High St. North, Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), Algoma District, Ontario, Canada, at age 75;[239] buried 11 Nov 1923 at Riverside Cemetery, Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), Algoma District, Ontario, Canada.[240]

              She and Thomas Squires appeared on the census of 1881 at Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), Algoma District, Ontario, Canada; where Thomas Squires (39) was a farmer, with [Ann] Allen Squires (36), Levina Squires (9), Erin Squires (7), William Ths. Squires (5), John Alx. Squires (4), and Oliver Allen Squires (1) present.[241] She and Thomas Squires appeared on the census of 1891 at Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), Algoma District, Ontario, Canada; where Thomas Squier (49) was a police constable, with Anne Squier (44), Aaron Squier (16), Thomas Squier (15), John Squier (14), Oliver Squier (11), George Squier (8), Mary Squier (7), Christie Squier (5), Hilda Squier (2), and Lavina Squier (18) a domestic servant, present.[242] She appeared on the census of 1911; where Allie Squires (65, b.
