4. Thomas4 MARCHMENT (child of Samuel3, Jasper2, Jasper1);[45],[46] born circa 1787 at Charlton (near Pewsey), Co. Wiltshire, England;[47],[48] baptized 12 Jul 1789 at St Peter, Charlton (near Pewsey), Co. Wiltshire, England; the same day as his sister Ann;[49],[50] married Ann Skinner, daughter of Thomas Skinner and Ann Downing, 25 Aug 1810 at St. Mary's, Ealing, Co. Middlesex, England; where Thomas (batchelor) and Ann Skinner (spinster) were of that parish, who made their marks, in the presence of Ann Marchment and Charles Atlee;[51],[52] died 1862 at Co. Middlesex, England;[53] buried 13 May 1862 at St. Mary's North End, Fulham, Co. Middlesex, England, "aged 74."[53]

He lived between 1808 and 1812 at St. Mary's Parish, Ealing, Co. Middlesex, England.[54],[55] He and Ann Skinner lived from 1815 to 1851 at St. Paul's, Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex, England; for the baptisms of their first six children, and through to their last census return, where Thomas was a labourer.[56] He and Ann Skinner appeared on the census of 1841 at Brookgreen Place, Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex, England; where Thomas (~55) was a labourer. Ann (~50), Eliza (26), William (24), Ellen (14), Elizabeth (13), Thomas Jr. (10) and two roomers, Louisa Datton (50), and ? Datton (20) were present. Thomas and Ann were not born in Middlesex.[57],[58] He was a labourer in 1844.[59] He was a gardener in 1849 at Caroline Place, Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex, England.[60] He and Ann Skinner appeared on the census of 1851 at 22 Caroline Place, St. Paul, Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex, England; where Thomas (70) a labourer born Charlton, Co. Wiltshire, Ann (60) born Perton, Co. Worcestershire, Eliza (35) a charwoman born in Hammersmith and described as 'deaf and dumb', and their granddaughter Sarah Ann (3) were present.[61],[62]

Ann SKINNER[63],[64] was born circa 1791 at Co. Worcestershire, England.[65],[66] She was probably baptized on 19 Aug 1792 at Pirton, Co. Worcestershire, England; named Nancy Skinner.[67] She died (Dec quarter) in 1868 at Kensington, London, Co. Middlesex, England.[68] She lived between 1810 and 1812 at St. Mary's Parish, Ealing, Co. Middlesex, England.[55],[69]

    Little is known of William. He appeared in 1841 census, but is confirmed in nothing later.[73],[74]

    Eliza may have been mentally or physically impaired. She was described as 'deaf and dumb' in the 1851 census.[78] Little is known of Eliza. She appeared with her parents at the 1841 and 1851 census, but no convincing records of her further exploits or fate exist. She may have died in 1858.[79],[80]

    As of 1841, she was also known as Ellen MARCHMENT at census.[103] She and John Baker appeared on the census of 1851 at Wood Lane, Shepherd's Bush, Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex, England; where John Baker (25) was a coachman for George Bridge at Wood House, in a seperate dwelling with Eleanor (24), George (5), Elizabeth (4), and John (1).[104] She and John Baker appeared on the census of 1861 at 5 Wood Lane, The Lodge, Shepherd's Bush, Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex, England; where John Baker (34) was a coachman to George Bridge, with Eleanor Baker (33), Elizabeth Baker (14) a dressmaker, Eleanor Baker (7), Thomas Baker (5), Annie M Baker (3), Charles Baker (1), and Joseph R Baker (1 mo) present.[105] She and John Baker appeared on the census of 1871 at Wood House Lodge, Shepherd's Bush, Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex, England; after publication of banns, by Henry Murray, where Alfred was a policeman, son of Moses Taylor, and Elizabeth was daughter of Thomas Marchment, witnessed by William Norman Morris, and M. Middlesex, England; at the time of their marriage.[112] She and Alfred Taylor appeared on the census of 1861 at 5 Francis Place, Westminster, London, England; where Alfred Taylor (33) was a police constable, wife Elizabeth Taylor (33) was a dressmaker, with George F R Taylor (10), Thos Willm Taylor (8), Harry Taylor (4), and Alfred Ernest Taylor (1) present, with several lodgers.[114] She and Alfred Taylor appeared on the census of 1871 at 5 Francis Place, Westminster, London, England; where Alf Taylor (43) was a poilceman, with Elizth (43), Henry (14), Alice M. (8), Owen J. (6), and Lillian L. (11 mos) also present.[115] She and Alfred Taylor appeared on the census of 1881 at 8 Green Coal Row, Westminster, London, England; where Alfred Taylor (53) was a pensioned policeman, with Elizabeth Taylor (53), Alice Maud Mary Taylor (18), and Lillia Louisa Taylor (10) present.[116] She and Alfred Taylor appeared on the census of 1891 at 41 Barclay Rd., Fulham, London, Co. Middlesex, England; where Thomas Marchment (21) was a labourer, with Sarah Ann (24), Eliza Ann (4), and Alfred Fred (2), sharing a home with William Tims (59) a gardener, and his family.[126] He and Sarah Ann Eakett appeared on the census of 1861 at 23 Somerset Place, Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex, England; where Thomas Marchment (31) was a labourer, with Sarah A Marchment (38), Eliza Marchment (14), Alfred F Marchment (12), Jane Marchment (9), Ellen Marchment (6), and Thomas R Marchment (9 mos).[127] He and Sarah Ann Eakett Sarah Ann left Thomas between 1864 and 1865.[128],[129],[130] He and Mary Ann May were associated in 1865.[131],[132] He and Mary Ann May appeared on the census of 1871 at 6 Jasmine Place, Fulham Road, Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex, England; where Thomas Marchment (41) was a broker, wife Mary Marchment (36), Fred Marchment (22) a barman, Thomas Marchment (11), George Marchment (7), William Marchment (4), Edward Marchment (3), and Henry Marchment (1) were present.[133] He and Mary Ann May appeared on the census of 1881 at 27 Caroline Place, Fulham Road, Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex, England; where Thomas Marchmant (50) was a broker, with Mary Marchmant (45) born Asford, Middlesex, William Marchmant (15) a porter, Edward Marchmant (13), Henry Marchmant (10), Ann Marchmant (6), Charles Marchmant (4).[134] He and Mary Ann May appeared on the census of 1891 at 52 Fulham Place road, Hammersmith, London, England; where Thomas (60) was a furniture dealer, with Mary May (54) described as a domestic servant and house keeper, Harry (26) was a furniture porter, and Annie (17) present.[135] He appeared on the census of 1901 at 52 Fulham Place road, Hammersmith, London, England; where Thomas Marchment (71) was a widowed furniture dealer, Henry Marchment (28) was an undertaker, and Elizabeth Marchment (26) was at home.[136]

5. Ann4 MARCHMENT (child of Samuel3, Jasper2, Jasper1);[137],[137] born circa 1789 at Charlton (near Pewsey), Co. Wiltshire, England;[138],[139] baptized 12 Jul 1789 at St Peter, Charlton (near Pewsey), Co. Wiltshire, England; the same day as her brother Thomas;[49] married William Dykes 14 Sep 1812 at Ealing, Co. Middlesex, England;[140] died "aged 79" 1872 at Kensington, London, Co. Middlesex, England.[141]

She and William Dykes lived in 1815 at Old Brentford, London, Co. Middlesex, England; where William was a labourer.[142] She and William Dykes lived between 1816 and 1828 at Hammersmith, London, Co. Middlesex, England; where they had five more children: Henry Dykes (b. 1821), George Dykes (b. 1822), Caroline Dykes (b. 1825), James Dykes (1827-1855), and Colin Dykes (1828-1894). All were born and remained in Hammersmith.[143],[144] She and William Dykes appeared on the census of 1841 at Frog Island, Shepherd's Bush, Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex, England; where William Dykes (60) was a gardener, with Ann (56), James (24) a carter, Collin (20) also a carter, present. William and Ann born Charlton, Witlshire, and the children born Hammersmith, Middlesex.[146] She and William Dykes appeared on the census of 1861 at No 14 Frog Island, Sheppard's Bush, Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex, England; where William (74) was a costermonger b. Shropshire, while Ann (70) was b. Wiltshire.[147] She appeared on the census of 1871 at 40 High street, Fulham, London, Co. Middlesex, England; where Ann Dyke (84) was a widow, lived with her daughter and the Burgess family.[148]

William DYKES was born on 24 Jan 1790 at Rowde, Co. Wiltshire, England.[149],[150],[2] He was baptized on 8 Mar 1790 at Rowde, Co. Wiltshire, England.[2] He died "aged 73" in 1862 at Sheppard's Bush, Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex, England.[151],[152] He was buried on 24 Feb 1862 at St. Mary's North End, Fulham, Co. George Chisholm, where father was Thomas Marchment, and mother was Ann (in the hamlet of);[161],[162] married Mary Ann Copeland, daughter of James Thomas Copeland and Sarah Wood, 19 Aug 1844 at parish church, Kensington, London, Co. Middlesex, England; where Samuel (22) was a bachelor, labourer, and Mary Ann (18) a spinster. Middlesex, England; where Samuel (~15) was a servant to William Turpin (~25) a victualer, his wife Mary (~20), Charles Gentry (~15) and Harriet Johnston servants, also present.[168],[169] He was sentenced to 3 months, after being "indicted for stealing, on the 30th of August, 1 half-crown and 2 shillings; the monies of William Turpin, his master; to which he pleaded guilty. Aged 18" on 21 Sep 1841 at Central Criminal Court, Co. Middlesex, England.[170],[171] In 1844, Samuel Jasper Marchment and Mary Ann Copeland lived at Early Street, Kensington, Co. Middlesex, England, at time of their marriage.[172] In 1849, Samuel Jasper Marchment and Mary Ann Copeland lived at Portland Street, Fulham, Co. Middlesex, England, at the birth of Samuel William, and Samuel Jasper was a labourer.[173],[174] He was was imprisoned for 9 months, being convicted of "embezzling 3l. 3s.; the moneys of William Macalpine, his master: to which he pleaded gilty. Aged 26" on 17 Dec 1849 at Central Criminal Court, Co. Middlesex, England.[175],[176],[177] He and Mary Ann Copeland appeared on the census of 1851 at 4 Portland Cottages, Fulham, Co. Middlesex, England; where Samuel (27) was a labourer in Brickfield, born in Hammersmith. Mary A. (25), Mary A. Middlesex, England; where Samuel (48) was a coal porter, with Mary A (45), George (19) also a coal porter, James (15), Emma (13), Sarah (4), and Mary Ann's father James Copeland (77) present.[182],[183] He and Mary Ann Copeland lived in 1876 at 24 Johns terrace, Hammersmith, Co. Nestorian, Québec City, Québec, Canada; where Sam Marchment, and Mrs. Marchment were travelling to Toronto, departing 04 Jun 1887 from the Port of London aboard S.S. Nestorian, accompanied by daughter Mary Ann Davis (38), Richard Davis (39), and their children Rose (18), George (16), Emma (13), Selina (10), John (5), and Percy (2).[194] In 1888, Samuel Jasper Marchment and Mary Ann Copeland lived at 824 Yonge St, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, working for S.W. Marchment.[195] In 1889, Samuel Jasper Marchment and Mary Ann Copeland lived at 826 Yonge St., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, as renters. George and James were present, all were labourers at eldest son's S.W. Marchment & Co.[196] In 1890, Samuel Jasper Marchment and Mary Ann Copeland lived at 910 Yonge St, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[197],[198] In 1891, Samuel Jasper Marchment and Mary Ann Copeland lived at 912 Yonge St., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, George was present and both worked with S.W. Marchment. Mary Ann was also 71 yrs, and a widow born in London, England to James and Sarah Copeland. George T. Marchment, her son, was witness. The service was Methodist.[208] She died of accute bronchitis on 31 May 1900 at 614 Yonge St., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 74.[209] Between 1892 and 1893, Mary Ann Copeland lived at 912 Yonge St., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, with son George after the death of her husband Samuel J. Marchment.[210] Between 1894 and 1897, Mary Ann Copeland lived at 910 Yonge St., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, where she was a caterer, and joined by son George. Mary stayed there until she remarried.[211] She lived between 1898 and 1900 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; around the Yonge & Bloor Sts. area.[212] She was a butcher at her death in 1900 at 614 Yonge St., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[213]
