Those who stayed in
Canada |
Three families stayed in Canada when
the others left for Michigan.
Joshua's daughter Ruth had married Sylvanus Sharrard in the late 1820's, and their family lived just east and across the road from Joshua's 7th concession farm. Ruth had three daughters: Mary, Phoebe and Abigail, who was born around 1832. Joshua appears to have remained in Canada until his death. Rachel was in Pickering as late as 1851. There was also Joseph's youngest son, Joseph Wixson Jr., who remained in Canada and also lived east and across the road from his father's original grant, where a small village had begun to grow. Joseph Sr. and Deborah also stayed and died in Canada. Complete the stories of Joseph, Joshua and their remaining children . Historical summary: 1840's Continue with the story of Samuel Wixson. |
