Samuel Wixson
Brock Twp.
1851
earlier story Samuel Wixson  was probably in Brock Township in 1851, on the farm bought for him by Joseph Wixson Sr. on the 20th of February that year. The farm was on the west half of lot 9 in the 6th concession, right in between the villages of Vroomanton and Sunderland.

It appears the family lost the east half of the lot that was granted Randal in 1829 sometime after his bannishment in 1838. Randal never returned to claim his land and it was finally sold by the local sheriff in 1847 -- the year Queen Victoria granted the rebels amnesty. Maybe Samuel was also ocupying the original farm, and the west half that was all his grandfather Joseph could obtain for him. Perhaps the selling of the east half was a formality, and Samuel continued to rent it from the new owner and farmed both west and east halves.

To the north of Samuel's was the farm of Joshua Wixson Jr.

1854
Sometime around 1854, Samuel married Esther Rawson, daughter of the John and Esther Rawson who lived two lots west of Joseph Wixson Sr. in Claremont. They began their family that year, and eventually had seven children: Clarissa, Mary, John Daniel, Ann, Robert, Joseph, and the twins Isaac and Jacob Wixson.

Samuel sold the farm in October of 1854. He had also acquired the south half of Joshua Jr.'s property on the 8th concession from Ruth Sharrard, and sold it in November of 1854.
