Rhodri became King of Gwynedd in 844 upon the death of his father, and King of Powys in 855 upon the death of his mother's brother.[38] Around 872, Rhodri becomes King of Seisyllwg through the death of his brother-in-law.[16] From 876, Rhodri was forced into exile by Vikings.[38]
