                He gave testimony at the trial of two men, one of whom worked and lodged with him. "I keep a blacksmith's shop. Robert served his time with me; he behaved very well, and was very honest. He went journey-work for about two years and a half after his time was out, and since that he has worked for me again, till this affair. I live in South-street ward, in the parish of Edmonton" circa 30 Jun 1770.[836] He left a will on 4 Mar 1808 at Bowes farm, Edmonton, Co. Middlesex, England; "I James Balaam of Bowes farm in the parish of Edmondon and County of Middlesex, Blacksmith... I give to my sons William and Thomas Balaam... my freehold dwelling situated at Bowes farm... divided by my executor Thomas Leach in the manner following: to my son William Balaam, the ground and house extending in front from Millers Wall to the point."[837]
