6. George Townsend4 MARCHMENT (child of Samuel3, Thomas2, Samuel1); born 21 Jun 1851 at Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex, England;[312],[313],[161] married Elizabeth Emily Huckwell 29 Oct 1877 at Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex, England; where "George Townsell Marchment" was son of Samuel, and Elizabeth daughter of John Huckwell;[314],[315] died of epilepsy, and more recently neurasthenia (weakness, dizziness and fainting) 17 Sep 1917 at Ontario Hospital for Epileptics (Woodstock), Zorra East Twp., Oxford Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 66.[316]

He was ill with epilepsy, at age 18 in 1869.[317] He and Elizabeth Emily Huckwell lived in 1880 at 81 Latymer Rd., Hammersmith, London, Co. Middlesex, England; where George was a coal porter, living with wife Elizabeth, baby Mary Ann, at his parent's home.[318] He may have emigrated in 1889 to Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; without his wife and child.[319] George lived with his parents until his father died in 1891, and his mother remarried in 1897.[320] In 1898, George Townsend Marchment lived at 14 Collier, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[321] In 1899, George Townsend Marchment lived at 64 Cumberland, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[322] Between 1900 and 1902, George Townsend Marchment lived at 36 Scollard, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, with his brother James's family.[323] He was a teamster, as was his brother James in 1901.[324] He appeared on the census of 1901 at Toronto, Ontario, Canada; where George (49, illiterate) and brother James W. (45) were teamsters, and James's wife Susan, and 7 children were also present.[325] Probably after his brother James's death from a fall in 1905, which he witnessed, George was committed to the Epileptic Hospital in Woodstock.[326] He appeared on the census of 1911 at Lot4, Con11, Zorra East Twp., Oxford Co., Ontario, Canada; where George (60) was a patient at the Ontario Hospital for Epileptics at Woodstock.[327],[328]

Elizabeth Emily HUCKWELL was born circa 1860.[329] She married Charles Summers on 16 Apr 1895 at St. Mary, Acton, Co. Middlesex, England; where Charles (36) was a batchelor, and labourer, and Elizabeth Emily Marchment daughter of John Huckwell declared she was a widow.[330] She died "aged 64" in Dec 1924 at Hammersmith, London, England.[331] She and Mary Ann Marchment lived in 1890 at 77 Latimer Rd, Hammersmith, London, England.[332] Elizabeth had four more children with Charles Summers: Charles Elijah Summers (1895-1946); Emily Eleanor Summers (1898-1987); Henry Summers (b. 1899); and Florence Olive Summers (1901-1992).[333]

    She and Elizabeth Emily Huckwell lived in 1890 at 77 Latimer Rd, Hammersmith, London, England.[332] She was educated where her parent was "Mrs. E. Marchment" on 24 Mar 1890 at Oxford Gardens School, Kensington & Chelsea, London, England.[340] Mary Ann and Thomas had two children: Ernest William Brooks (1905-1988), and Herbert Cyril Brooks (b. 1910).[341]

Middlesex, England;[345],[346],[347] died after being thrown from a wagon 3 Jul 1905 at 513 Preston Ave., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 48;[348],[349] buried 6 Jul 1905 at lot 19, Sect 32, plot M, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[350],[311]

He and Susan Alice King appeared on the census of 1881 at 83 Latymer Rd., Hammersmith, London, Co. Middlesex, England; where James (25) a coal porter, Susan (26), and Walter J.S. (6), George E. (4), William A. (3), Sidney J. (1), and Sussanah (4 mos.) were present. They were next door to James' father Samuel at #81.[351],[131] He and Susan Alice King emigrated in 1887 to Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; with their extended family from England.[352],[353] He and Susan Alice King lived on 27 Nov 1888 at 826 Yonge St., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; at the birth of Edith, their first child born in Canada.[354] In 1890, James Walter Marchment and Susan Alice King lived at 912 Yonge St., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, where James was a teamster, at the birth of Albert.[355] In 1891, James Walter Marchment and Susan Alice King lived at 38 McMurrich, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, and was a teamster with S.W. (45) and brother George (49, illiterate) were teamsters, son Robert (15) was a bread driver. Other children present: Ruth E.(14) , Edith R. (12) , Albert E. (10), Frank E. (8), Elsie M. (5).[363] James died tragically in an accident: "Died From Shock -- James Marchment Was Thrown From His Wagon and Fatally Injured -- James Marchment, teamster, of 513 Preston Avenue, fell off a light delivery wagon last night and died as the result of the shock. With his son, aged 16 years, and his brother, he was driving home when the accident occurred. One of the rear wheels of the wagon slipped into a hole at a crossing and Marchment, the father, was jolted off. He was carried home, where he was attended by Dr. Conboy. Death ensued within a few minutes."[348]

Susan Alice KING was born on 2 Apr 1857 at West Drayton, Co. Middlesex, England.[364],[365],[366] She died on 23 Mar 1922 at 513 Concord Ave., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 64.[367],[368] As of 1857, she was also known as Alice Susannah King.[369]

    He and Jennie Agnes Mann appeared on the census of 1901 at Ward 4, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; where James was a driver.[375] No descendants are known.[376]

  • ii. George Ellis Marchment;[377],[377] born 2 Dec 1876 at England;[378],[379],[380] married Emily Louise Ross 13 Jul 1898 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; George was a Driver age 22, and Emily was 23.[381]

    Sometime after 1897, George moved out on his own, and drove for the Harry Web Co.[382] He and Emily Louise Ross appeared on the census of 1901 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; where George (24), Emma L (26), and Gordon E (1) were present.[383] He and Emily Louise Ross appeared on the census of 1911 at 93 Cumberland St, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; where George (34), Emlie (36), Gordon (11), Kenneth (5), Vilet (3), Jack (3), and Frederick (8 mos) were present.[384]

Middlesex, England; where Charles (23) was a plasterer, and Emma (22) a dressmaker.[398] She and Charles Henry Gill emigrated on 28 Mar 1887 to Halifax, Halifax Co., Nova Scotia, Canada; where Chas Gill (27), Emma Gill (27), Charles Gill (4) and Lilly Gill (2) travelled aboard the S.S. Marchment. Witnessed by Richard Davies and Mary Ann Davies, her sister;[420],[421] died "age 27," of chronic heart disease 24 Feb 1894 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada;[422] buried at lot 19, Sect 32, plot M, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, the same plot as her father.[423]

S. Armstrong, and William a tinner in 1899.[439] He appeared on the census of 1901 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; where John (47) was an engineer, widowed, and John (24) a labourer, William (23) a labourer, Samuel (15) a labourer, Nelson (12), and Loviella (8) were present, also John's widowed mother Sarah Pryke (67, b. 30 Sep 1833).[440]

DesBanes, witnessed by George Davis and Rose Hannah Garlich of Toronto.[446]

Robert John MOYES was born circa 1870 at London, England.[447]

Selina5 DAVIS (child of Mary4Marchment, Samuel3, Thomas2, Samuel1);[183],[183] born circa 1878 at Notting Hill, London, England;[184] married Sidney Arthur Marchment, son of Samuel William Marchment and Catherine Beaver, circa 1897 at St. Matthew's First Avenue, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; where Selina and Sidney were first cousins;[455] married George Garlick 2 Nov 1903 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; where Mary Ann Selina (26) was a widow, and George (31) was a batchelor and bricklayer.[456]

Between 1898 and 1900, Selina Davis and Sidney Arthur Marchment lived at 17 Blackburn St., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, where Sidney was a machinist, possibly also a sailor.[457],[458] As of 1903, she was also known as Mary Ann Selina in 1898 and 1903.[459]

Sidney Arthur MARCHMENT[460],[461] was born on 27 Jan 1876 at Orillia, Simcoe Co., Ontario, Canada.[462] He died of tuberculosis on 29 Mar 1900 at 137 Munro, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 24.[463] He was buried on 31 Mar 1900 at lot 19, sect 32, plot M, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.[311],[464] He was a machinist. He appeared on the census of 1881 at 63 Duchess, St. Thomas's Ward, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; when Sidney was 5.[465] He appeared on the census of 1891 at 38 Adelaid St, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; when Sidney was 15.[466] Concerning his death, it was published, "Sydney A Marchment second beloved son of S. W. Marchment and beloved husband of Lena Marchment in his 25th year. Funeral from residence 137 Monroe street to Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 2 pm Saturday, March 31. Friends and acquaintances please accept this intimation."[467]

    He was a machinist. He appeared on the census of 1881 at 63 Duchess, St. Thomas's Ward, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; when Sidney was 5.[465] He appeared on the census of 1891 at 38 Adelaid St, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; when Sidney was 15.[466] Between 1898 and 1900, Sidney Arthur Marchment and Selina Davis lived at 17 Blackburn St., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, where Sidney was a machinist, possibly also a sailor.[457],[458] Concerning his death, it was published, "Sydney A Marchment second beloved son of S. W. Marchment and beloved husband of Lena Marchment in his 25th year. Funeral from residence 137 Monroe street to Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 2 pm Saturday, March 31. Ethel (22), "the bride...was attired in a blue and whiter striped silk gown, and carried a boquet of roses and lillies...Muriel [sister]...attendant maid... Mr. Robert Boyd [Muriel's fianceé] was best man." J. J. Ross officiated;[509],[510],[511],[512] died 3 Apr 1974 at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at age 88.[513],[514]

Roche, Cornwall), Reginald J. (10), Harry (9), John P. (7), Agnes J. (2), Ernest A. (11mos) born Bude, and servant Mary Littlejohns (20) were present.[532] He appeared on the census of 1891 at #1 Spring Cottages, Stratton, Co. Cornwall, England; where Nicholas H. Tregaskes (44) was an agent, born Tywardreath, Co. Cornwall, with Sarah Ann (43), Harry Tregaskes (19) a chemist, John Percival Tregaskes (17) a clerk, Maud Marian Tregaskes (8), Ernest Alfred Tregaskes [sic] (9) born Stratton Co. Cornwall, Stewart Tregaskes (7), and servant Edith Webb (20) present.[533] He emigrated circa 1904 to Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[534] Between 1905 and 1906, Ernest Alger Tregaskes lived at 14 Earnbridge St., Toronto, Ontario, Canada, as a boarder.[535] He was a bookkeeper with S.W. Marchment between 1905 and 1914.[536] Ernest (26) a bookkeeper departed Liverpool on 14 Sep 1906 aboard Virginian, bound for Montreal as a returning Canadian.[537] Between 1907 and 1908, Ernest Alger Tregaskes lived at 9 Earnbridge St., Toronto, Ontario, Canada.[538] He was the office manager at S.W. Marchment between 1915 and 1917.[539] He was the secretary for Marchment Company Ltd from 1918 to 1938.[540]

      Harry's death notice appeared in the Toronto Star, "A graduate of Parkdale Collegiate and the University of Toronto, P.Eng., served with Royal Canadian Engineers during WWII and an active member in the United Church. He also had a distinguished career with the Ontario Department of Highways and subsequently with Toronto Transit Commission. Predeceased by his adoring wife Clara (Claire). He will be greatly missed by his family: the Tregaskes, Bones, Boyds, Marchments and all their children and many friends including the Land and the Nelson families, and those not mentioned. In celebration of Harry's life, there will be a Funeral Service held at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street W., at Windermere Ave. (east of the Jane subway), on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 3 p.m. with visitation from 2 p.m. If desired, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family."[545]
